University of Michigan School of Nursing

The University of Michigan uses Kognito’s SBI with Adolescents simulation to prepare its students to use the evidence-based practice of Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT). After completing the simulation, 94% of UMich students reported that they were confident in their ability to screen adolescents for substance use.

Saint Louis University Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing

Students completed SBI with Adolescents as part of their mental health and psychiatric nursing course to help prepare them to address substance use with adolescent patients. In the third simulated conversation, which assesses student competency in SBIRT, about two-thirds of students scored 80% or above.

Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing
